The Role: Fleet Controller
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Controller to join our Brisbane (Wacol) operations. Reporting to the Distribution manager, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day coordination of fleet operations, labour planning and transport movements to ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective outcomes.
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring resources are utilised effectively while maintaining strong communication with drivers, customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee effective load planning and fleet control activities
Coordinate and plan truck drivers, subcontractors and casual labour
Manage labour planning, including leave coverage and cost control
Coordinate and book inward and outward container movements across rail networks and customers
Monitor freight systems, GPS tracking and fleet control software to maximise efficiency
Review driver performance, run sheets, Ignition reports and driver de-brief
Ensure all fleet operations comply with safety management systems and OH&S; requirements
Assist with investigation and reporting of driver, vehicle or load incidents
Support fleet maintenance and repairs, ensuring accurate record keeping
Operate forklifts or Combi lift as required to improve depot efficiency
Maintain accurate consignment note data and supporting documentation
Provide high‑level customer service and ensure timely communication between transport, warehouse, clients and interstate offices
Actively promote positive cultural behaviours aligned with Sadleirs values
What You’ll Need
Minimum 1 years’ experience in fleet control or logistics planning
Strong working knowledge of transport operations, load planning and labour coordination
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Intermediate computer skills with experience using GPS tracking and fleet control systems
High customer service focus and attention to detail
Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
Current Forklift Licence (Preferred)
Current Driver’s Licence (truck licence preferred)
Knowledge of OH&S;, Load Restraint and Dangerous Goods (highly regarded)
Extensive geographical knowledge
