As the Construction Site Safety Officer, you will provide practical, site-based leadership across our construction projects, working closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, trades and contractors to embed secure work practices into day-to-day operations.

In this hands‑on role, you will oversee WHS compliance, risk management, incident investigations, safety reporting and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring activities are conducted in accordance with Queensland Work Health and Safety legislation, Codes of Practice and company standards.

We are seeking an experienced safety professional with a commercial construction background who enjoys being present on site, building solid relationships with workers and contractors, and leading by example. You will play a key role in fostering a positive safety culture, proactively identifying and managing risks, and supporting project teams to deliver successful outcomes while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Conduct regular site inspections,



safety walks and compliance audits.
- Ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) and associated Regulations.
- Implement and enforce company WHS systems across construction sites.
- Monitor high‑risk construction activities and ensure effective controls are maintained.
- Intervene and accelerate unsafe work practices as required.
- Provide practical, hands‑on assistance to site teams where necessary.

WHS Compliance & Site Safety Oversight

- Identify hazards and assess risks associated with construction activities.
- Review and monitor SWMS, permits and risk assessments.
- Assist Project Managers in developing and maintaining Project Risk Registers.
- Verify licences, tickets and competencies for relevant workers and contractors.
- Ensure safe work procedures are site‑specific, practical and understood by the workforce.
- Apply the hierarchy of controls to effectively manage risk.

Contractor Safety & Workforce Engagement

- Coordinate and monitor site inductions through HammerTech.
- Facilitate toolbox talks and site safety briefings.
- Monitor contractor compliance with WHS obligations.
- Provide coaching and practical safety guidance to workers and supervisors.
- Promote a culture of accountability, engagement and safe work practices.

Incident Management & Reporting

- Lead or support incident, hazard and near‑miss investigations.
- Prepare investigation reports and corrective action plans.
- Monitor follow‑up actions and verify effective close‑out.
- Maintain accurate, audit‑ready records within HammerTech.
- Complete weekly safety reporting requirements.




- Support audits and liaise with regulators, consultants and external stakeholders as required.

Safety Leadership & Continuous Improvement

- Champion a positive safety culture across all projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and site practices.
- Participate in lessons‑learned reviews and safety improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with legislative changes and industry best practice.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Essential Qualifications

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Construction White Card.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Current Driver's Licence.

Experience & Knowledge

- Previous experience in a construction safety role.
- Experience working on commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation, regulations and Codes of Practice.
- Experience reviewing SWMS, permits and risk management documentation.
- Experience with HammerTech or similar construction safety management software.
