Get Going Support is currently seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team, supporting two male participants in Birkdale.

We are looking for committed, reliable and confident Disability Support Workers who have strong communication skills, valuable availability and the ability to provide calm, respectful and person-centred support in both home and community settings.

Get Going Support is currently seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team, supporting two male participants in Birkdale.

We are looking for committed, reliable and confident Disability Support Workers who have strong communication skills, good availability and the ability to provide calm, respectful and person-centred support in both home and community settings.

This role involves supporting participants 2:1 or 1:1, depending on individual participant support needs.

Role Description

This position involves supporting two male participants with a range of disabilities and support needs, including high-complex physical care and support needs.

Support may include manual handling, hoist transfers, catheter care, pressure care, palliative care support, personal care, comfort, safety, daily routines, non-verbal communication support, autism-related support needs and meaningful community participation.

We are looking for Disability Support Workers who are patient, observant, confident and clear communicators, with the ability to provide calm,



respectful and consistent support.

These are not entry-level roles. Applicants must have relevant experience and be confident supporting participants with complex health and disability support needs.

The people we support may require assistance with daily living, personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, medication support, community access, mobility support, appointments, routines and engagement in meaningful activities.

Support May Include

- Personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming and continence support

- Hoist transfers and manual handling in line with support plans

- Catheter care and monitoring

- Pressure care and repositioning support

- Palliative care support focused on dignity, comfort and quality of life

- Supporting non-verbal participants with communication, choice and engagement

- Recognising and responding to changes in comfort, presentation, health or wellbeing

- Meal preparation and mealtime support

- Medication support in line with care plans and procedures

- Monitoring and reporting changes or concerns promptly and accurately

- Light household duties including cleaning, laundry, dishes and general tidying

- Supporting daily routines, community access, appointments, outings and meaningful activities

- Following participant support plans, manual handling plans, health plans, risk assessments and procedures

- Communicating clearly and professionally with other staff, family,



management and health professionals as required

Shift Availability

Applicants must be willing and available to work a variety of shifts, 1:1 and 2:1, which may include:

- Day Shifts

- Sleepovers (inactive)

- Weekend shifts

- Short shifts

- High-complex in-home support shifts

- Community access support shifts

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

- Current QLD Driver’s License with Comprehensive Insurance on Private vehicle

- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate

- Current NDIS Workers Screening Check

- Demonstrated experience supporting Participants with complex, high-physical care needs

- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP)

- Minimum of 2yrs Experience within the community services sector

Desirable

- Certificate III in Individual Support Disability/Aged Care or related studies (or willing to undertake)

- Knowledge and understanding of the NDIS system.

- Sound experience in the disability or allied health/welfare/education fields.

- A minimum of one year's driving experience and a full driving license.
