We are seeking experienced and motivated HR professionals to join our Commonwealth Government client as Workplace Relations Manager at the EL1 level. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing strategic advice on enterprise bargaining, industrial and employee relations, workplace policies and employment conditions, while fostering productive relationships with various stakeholders.
An initial 12-month non-ongoing APS contract with possible extension, or s26 transfer (for ongoing APS employees) is on offer. This is a full-time opportunity based in Canberra, ACT, with flexible working arrangements considered on a case-by-case basis.
Please note: only Australian citizens with the ability to obtain/maintain a Baseline security clearance can be considered for this role (an existing clearance is highly desirable). Appointment is subject to pre-engagement checks.
Duties:
- Managing workplace relations and enterprise bargaining activities, including the development, implementation and review of enterprise agreements, workplace policies and employment frameworks.
- Providing strategic advice on workplace relations matters and managing organisational risk.
- Managing performance, conduct and employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
- Managing relationships with employee representatives and relevant stakeholders.
- Driving workplace relations governance and compliance, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements, APS policy settings and organisational obligations.
- Developing and reviewing workplace policies, procedures and guidance materials.
- Strong knowledge and experience of employment legislation, enterprise agreements and workplace policies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, sound judgement and the ability to deliver outcomes in a complex environment.
- Experience engaging with unions or employee representative groups (desirable).
- Government or public sector workplace relations experience (desirable).
