Brisbane Boys' College is an established GPS day and boarding school founded in 1902, dedicated to developing boys into worthy leaders and good citizens. Located just four kilometres from Brisbane's centre, we educate students from Prep to Year 12.

About the role:

The Audio-Visual (AV) Administrator is part of a small support-focused team delivering AV and technology services to members of the College community. The appointee will primarily focus on supporting the College’s use of AV systems while also assisting in the ongoing support of wider Technology platforms throughout the College. This role requires flexibility in work hours, including availability for after-hours events. When not engaged in AV tasks, the AV Administrator will assist the wider IT team with general technology services duties.

Working Hours:

The normal hours of operation for this role are 7:30 am – 3:30 pm Monday to Friday. However, this role is subject to variable hours of coverage.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day operation and support of the College’s AV requirements.

Ensure AV service and support to the College is of the highest standards, with a strong customer satisfaction focus.

Coordinate 3rd party contractors in assisting with large College or external events.

Work with key stakeholders as part of the existing booking and functions processes.

Process AV-related jobs in the Service Desk queue.

Manage and deliver AV project items.

Oversee and maintain all College AV systems, including the AV Asset Register.

Involve members of the student community in the delivery of AV services for assemblies and productions.

Identify and comply with health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices, particularly in relation to AV systems and AV workspaces, including but not limited to College Hall, Sports Hall, Resource Centre Theatrette, Conference Room.

Participate in scheduled “outside of normal hours work” as required for internal College events, project work and operational purposes.

When College events dictate the requirement of AV support, either late into the evening OR during weekends, the normal hours of work will shift.

If an event calls for late night attendance,



the AV Administrator will have their start time shifted to ensure a safe and reasonable length of workday.

Participate as a member of the BBC Technology Services team in the ongoing support and maintenance of standard personal computing hardware, software, peripherals, printing services, technology-related teaching aids and equipment, as well as staff and student mobile devices.

Contribute to the Technology Services Knowledge Base in accordance with internal processes and assist in ensuring items relevant to the position of Audio Visual Administrator are reliable and up to date.

Ensure that all requests for assistance are recorded and documented fully in the IT Service Desk System.

Provision of high-quality support services to clients in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements.

Participate as a collaborative member of the Technology Services team to ensure that high-quality, client-focused services are provided.

Participate in scheduled “outside of normal hours work” as required for internal College events, External hires, project work, and operational purposes.

Skills and Capabilities

Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in the operation of sound, lighting and other visual services equipment.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including negotiation and consultation, and the ability to influence and deal with a range of people, clients and stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and respect for security and confidentiality in an IT and AV environment.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member or independently with minimal supervision.

An enthusiastic, self-motivated, and professional attitude.

Education, industry training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the successful completion a Certificate III in Information Technology, Live Production and Services, Telecommunications Digital Reception or Screen and Media.





Advanced experience in architecting AV services in a multitude of environments.

Experience in working in a medium to large, diverse, preferably education environment.

Demonstrated proficiency in level 1 IT support services.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of community members.

Strong proficiency in written and spoken English.

Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

The role requires physical activity, including lifting and setting up AV equipment.
