The College has become respected for great academic results, commitment to character development, sporting spirit, and passionate community service.
Are you an organised, proactive administrator who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Do you enjoy solving complex scheduling challenges and making sure every piece falls into place? Join our Junior School team as our Relief Teaching Coordinator, where no two mornings are the same.
Working closely with the Head of Junior School and the Junior School Educational Support Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring every class is appropriately staffed by coordinating our relief teachers and supporting them to confidently begin each school day.
About the Role
This is a term-time position working 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 10:00am. You will be responsible for coordinating daily teacher relief across the Junior School, responding to early morning staffing needs from 6:00am, and then office-based from 7:30am to 10:00am. You will maintain our pool of relief teachers and plan ahead to ensure staffing needs are met for upcoming events and known absences, with many relief bookings able to be arranged in advance as teachers advise of upcoming leave.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys the challenge of bringing together multiple moving parts like completing a jigsaw puzzle, matching the right relief teacher to the right class while ensuring everyone is informed and supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage daily relief teacher coverage across the Junior School.
- Receive and respond to staff absence notifications via phone, text and email.
- Contact and allocate relief teachers to classes and duties.
- Build, maintain and grow a reliable pool of relief teachers.
- Welcome, brief and support relief teachers each morning to ensure they are well prepared for the day.
- Work proactively with the Head of Junior School, Education Support team, and teaching staff to anticipate future staffing requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of relief teacher availability and placements.
- Communicate staffing arrangements clearly and promptly with relevant staff.
- Provide administrative support to the Junior School leadership team as required.
About You
You're a highly organised and adaptable administrator who remains calm under pressure and enjoys finding practical solutions. You can confidently manage competing priorities, communicate professionally, and take initiative to ensure every detail is covered.
You'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in a busy administration or coordination role (school experience highly regarded).
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to multitask efficiently and work effectively under tight timeframes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence making phone calls and sending text communications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Robust IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and build positive relationships.
- A flexible, positive "can-do" attitude and willingness to support the wider team.
- Experience with school administration systems (desirable, but training will be provided).
- A current Employee (Paid) Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one).
- A commitment to supporting the Christian ethos and values of the College.
