Senior House Officer (Emergency Medicine) – Fixed Term Temporary (Full-Time & Part-Time) opportunity until 17 January 2027, based at Logan Hospital, Meadowbrook within Metro South Health.

Your new role:

As a Senior House Officer in the Emergency Department, you will contribute to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while building your clinical capability in a supportive, fast-paced environment by:

- Assessing, examining and coordinating appropriate investigations for emergency patients
- Initiating treatment plans and discharge planning under senior medical guidance
- Communicating effectively with senior clinicians regarding patient care and condition changes
- Providing clear explanations to patients and carers about diagnoses and treatment options
- Participating in clinical education, audits and ongoing professional development
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and adhering to organisational standards
- Supporting safe, inclusive and respectful care for all patients and staff
- Contributing to patient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities

About you:

You are a motivated and compassionate medical professional who thrives in a team-based, high-pressure environment and is committed to continuous improvement with:

- MBBS (or equivalent) registrable with the Medical Board of Australia
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and sound decision-making skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and teams
- Effective time management and ability to prioritise in a busy ED setting
- Commitment to ongoing learning, feedback and professional development
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
- High standards of professionalism, integrity and patient-focused care

Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland. We offer a range of services, including medical, rehabilitation, maternity, surgical and paediatric care.

We offer our staff and students extensive support and training in most medical specialties. As a teaching hospital, we help train future health care professionals and participate in research through strong partnerships with Queensland's leading medical schools, universities, and TAFE Queensland.

Our services will continue to grow as we build bigger and better facilities to support the community. By 2027, we'll have more beds and 5 more birthing suites as part of the Logan Hospital expansion.
