Group Technology Manager
National Role | Full-Time | Leadership Opportunity
Lead the technology transformation of a growing national business.
We're seeking an experienced Group Technology Manager to take ownership of technology across a national organisation operating throughout Australia.
This is far more than a traditional IT management role. You'll lead the evolution of our technology environment, oversee enterprise infrastructure and cybersecurity, drive AI adoption, and deliver digital transformation initiatives that improve efficiency across every part of the business.
Working closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our technology strategy while ensuring the business remains secure, scalable and ready for continued growth.
About the Role
As the Group Technology Manager, you will be responsible for the organisation's technology ecosystem—from infrastructure and cloud services through to AI strategy, business systems and digital transformation.
You’ll lead the transition from an outsourced IT model to an internally managed technology function while maintaining strong relationships with external technology partners.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys balancing operational excellence with strategic innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Infrastructure & Operations
- Lead and manage the organisation's IT infrastructure, including cloud environments, networks, servers, devices and communications.
- Oversee the transition from outsourced IT services to an internal technology function.
- Manage Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, software licensing and technology vendors.
- Maintain reliable, secure and scalable technology across multiple locations.
- Manage endpoint security, device lifecycle, user provisioning and identity management.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Oversee IT onboarding, offboarding and Level 2/3 technical support.
Cybersecurity & Risk
- Lead the organisation's cybersecurity strategy and security governance.
- Implement and maintain best-practice security controls, including MFA, access management and data protection.
- Coordinate security audits, penetration testing and cyber incident response.
- Ensure compliance with Australian privacy legislation and cyber security requirements.
- Maintain business continuity and data protection frameworks.
Digital Transformation & AI
- Develop and deliver the organisation's AI and digital transformation roadmap.
- Identify opportunities to automate business processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend practical AI solutions.
- Lead the implementation of AI tools while ensuring appropriate governance, security and cost management.
- Promote AI adoption through education, training and change management.
- Measure and report on the return on investment from technology and automation initiatives.
Business Systems & Technology
- Lead technology integration projects across multiple business systems.
- Improve data flow between platforms and eliminate manual processes.
- Develop executive dashboards and reporting that provide real-time business insights.
- Partner with operational leaders to identify technology improvements that enhance productivity and customer outcomes.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure, system performance and platform availability to support ongoing business growth.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and strategic partners.
- Negotiate licensing agreements and commercial contracts.
- Prepare business cases and technology investment recommendations for the Executive Leadership Team.
- Manage the IT budget and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.
About You
We're looking for a commercially minded technology leader who can bridge the gap between business operations and technology.
You’ll bring:
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise IT functions across a multi-site organisation.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft 365, cloud technologies (Azure, AWS or Google Cloud) and enterprise infrastructure.
- Experience delivering digital transformation and business systems improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, governance and business continuity.
- Experience implementing automation or AI solutions within a commercial environment.
- Proven ability to manage technology vendors, budgets and strategic projects.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A hands-on approach with the ability to move comfortably between strategic planning and operational delivery.
Desirable
- Experience within construction, insurance, property services or field-based operations.
- Experience with SaaS platforms, cloud-hosted applications or enterprise integrations.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as Essential Eight, ISO 27001 or SOC 2.
- Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, cybersecurity, IT service management or project management.
Why Join Us?
This is a rare opportunity to build and lead the technology function of a growing national organisation.
You’ll have genuine influence over technology strategy, digital transformation and AI adoption while working directly with executive leadership to shape the future of the business.
In return, we offer:
- National role with genuine strategic influence.
- Competitive salary package + bonus structure.
- Opportunity to build an internal technology team as the business expands.
- Exposure to emerging technologies, AI and large-scale transformation projects.
- Supportive leadership team with a strong growth agenda.
- Long-term career progression.
If you're an experienced technology leader who enjoys driving innovation while building secure, scalable and high-performing technology environments, we'd love to hear from you.
