Our client is seeking a skilled and motivatedLevel 3 Outfitting Engineerto join their team in Canberra. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering high-quality engineering solutions for outfitting projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and optimizing designs for functionality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in outfitting systems, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and integration of outfitting components, as well as conducting detailed analyses and reviews to ensure project success. This position requires a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence. Required Government Clearance: NV1 - Negative vetting 1
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree-Engineering, Bachelor Degree-Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
Work arrangement: Onsite
Receive a technical delegation from the LAND 8710 Principal Engineer to undertake Design Review, Design Acceptance and Technical Certification of the Outfitting Engineering elements of the LND 8710 maritime vessels.
Conduct Design Review, Design Acceptance and Technical Certification of the Outfitting Engineering elements of the LAND 8710 maritime vessels.
Engineering and technical activities have been achieved successfully to support the Program's Project outcomes through the development of appropriate engineering and technical documentation and activities executed in accordance with relevant legislation, doctrine, policies and standards.
Maintain the Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) authorisation.
Support the project to achieve the milestones defined within the shipbuilding Contracts and project integrated Master Schedule.
Active management and reporting of Technical, Environmental and Safety Risks by the Program.
Activities include:
Reporting to the LND 8710 Engineering Managers, the LND8710 Outfitting engineer activities include:
Perform the function of the Outfitting Engineer SME;
Obtain and exercise a Delegated Technical Authority within the field of Outfitting Engineering including furnishings, habitability, crew support systems and engineering systems;
The engineer will undertake Design Review, Design Acceptance and Technical Certification of Outfitting Engineering functions within the vessels of the LND 8710 program;
Support the development of key documentation within the Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) under the Principal Engineer (e.g. Engineering management Plan, Technical Certification Plan).
Support the review of classification society Approved documentation and identify where additional engineering resources are required to undertake review (e.g. marine engineering, electrical, mechanical, etc.).
Review, comment and Approval of engineering deliverables (primarily related to the outfitting engineering domain and other technical areas) in line with Contracted timeframes;
Identify any technical risks and develop technical risk assessments for the consideration of the LND 8710 Principal Engineer.
Work with the System Safety team to identify any hazards resident within the Outfitting Engineering elements of the design and characterise the risks associated with these hazards.
The engineer will support the management of requirements, engineering baselines, undertake stakeholder discussions, review ILS documentation, review technical reports and review V&V; documentation as required.
Participate in technical tender evaluation activities as required.
Conduct detailed review of the vessel 3D models to validate design against the requirements and basic vessel design.
Development of subordinate staff knowledge and skills within the Engineering Services team to ensure knowledge and know-how within the Program.
