THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Partners,



you'll take ownership of sophisticated commercial litigation matters while playing an important role in the continued growth of the firm.

You'll lead litigation strategy, manage complex disputes from commencement through to resolution and mentor a growing team of lawyers.

You'll also have the prospect to expand your own client network, contribute to business development and establish yourself as a trusted adviser to sophisticated commercial clients.

This role is designed for lawyers who aspire to Partnership—not simply another Senior Associate title.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

- Lead complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters
- Develop litigation strategies that deliver commercially successful outcomes
- Review and oversee litigation prepared by other lawyers within the team
- Advise clients across commercial law, contract law, employment, mergers and acquisitions, governance and related matters
- Draft pleadings, submissions, affidavits, commercial agreements and strategic legal advice
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, negotiations and settlement conferences
- Build trusted relationships with sophisticated commercial clients
- Mentor and develop a team of three lawyers




- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and generate new business
- Collaborate directly with the firm's Partners on high-profile legal matters
- Help strengthen internal systems, precedents and legal best practice

- 5+ years Post Admission Experience
- Strong Australian private practice experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution
- Proven experience managing litigation matters independently
- Excellent drafting, advocacy and negotiation skills
- Strong commercial judgement and strategic thinking
- Experience managing sophisticated client relationships
- Confidence appearing in court, mediations and negotiations

Please note that this role is best suited to lawyers with private practice commercial litigation experience. Experience gained exclusively in in-house legal teams is unlikely to provide the breadth of litigation strategy and advocacy required for this position.
