Senior Medical Officer – General Practice
An Eastern VIC hospital requires a Senior Medical Officer in General Practice. Fairly urgent – Tuesday 2nd of June – 1 x 24‐hour on call block. Compensation ranges from $2,500 to $3,000 per on call block.
About the role
Provide holistic obstetric and neonatal care in a supportive rural workplace.
Manage approximately * births per year.
Deliver comprehensive care where no on‐site paediatrician is available; candidates must be comfortable and proficient in managing both well and unwell neonates.
Work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to safe, high‐quality rural maternity care.
Requirements
Current registration and experience as a GPO/Obstetrician with recent clinical practice.
PROMPT (obstetric emergency training) or equivalent completed within the last 12 months.
Level 3 FSEP certification current within 12 months.
Neonatal Resuscitation (NNR) certification current within 12 months.
Advanced procedural skills and confidence working independently in a rural setting (evidence of completion & results required prior to confirmation of booking).

The maternity unit is staffed by a team of two midwives rostered each AM and PM shift, with one midwife on call overnight to support deliveries.
