Prosperity Painting Group is a growing commercial and residential painting business in Brisbane, following a recent merger that has significantly expanded our capacity and client base. We are on a deliberate growth path, and we are looking for an experienced operational leader to join us three days a week. Not to be managed, but to lead.

The real draw of this role is the opportunity to shape the next generation of operational leaders. You will work directly with a talented young Operations Manager and play a central role in developing their capability. Imparting the skills, habits, and thinking that come only from years of real-world experience. Your knowledge does not go with you when you retire from this kind of work. Here, it gets passed on.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the General Manager, you will own the operational performance of the business across four key areas.

- Own the end-to-end delivery of painting projects across residential and commercial.
- Manage and develop the Operations Manager as your direct report.
- Drive on-site culture, safety, and quality standards.
- Chair WIP meetings and deliver operational reporting at leadership meetings.

Estimating and margin

- Directly manage the Estimator and own estimating accuracy and turnaround.




- Hold full accountability for gross profit outcomes across the business.
- Review job financials and WIP weekly.
- Drive improvements in labour utilisation and staff productivity.

Process and systems

- Review and implement operational policies and procedures within the first 90 days.
- Drive consistent use of Prime - our job management system - across the team.
- Identify inefficiencies and build systems that support scale.
- Present findings and improvements at weekly management meetings.

People and culture

- Develop the Operations Manager toward full operational leadership capability.
- Set clear performance standards and hold people to them consistently.
- Build a culture that reflects the values of the business on site every day.
- Be the kind of leader the team can learn from just by watching.

What We Are Looking For

You do not need to come from the painting industry — but you do need to have run operations in construction, trade services, or a related hands-on environment. You know what it takes to manage a field team, protect margin, and build the kind of discipline that actually sticks.

You will have

- Proven operational management experience in construction or trade services.




- A track record of owning GP outcomes and managing to a budget.
- Experience developing and implementing operational processes.
- Confidence managing and developing people — including having the hard conversations.
- Competence with job management systems (Prime or equivalent).
- Explicit, direct communication — with trades, clients, and leadership.
