Prestige Refrigeration & Air Conditioning is looking for an experienced Air Conditioning Leading Hand to join our growing commercial team.

This is a hands-on leadership position suited to an experienced refrigeration mechanic or air conditioning technician who can confidently run commercial HVAC installations, coordinate a site team and deliver high-quality projects from rough-in through to commissioning.

About the Role

As a Leading Hand, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of mechanical HVAC installations while remaining actively involved on the tools.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and coordinating tradesmen, apprentices and labourers on site

Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications and construction documentation

Planning daily works, labour requirements and material requirements

Installation of commercial VRV/VRF and split-system air conditioning equipment

Refrigeration pipework installation, brazing, pressure testing and evacuation

Installation and coordination of indoor and outdoor units

Coordinating ductwork, controls and associated mechanical services

Managing builders, other trades and site coordination

Identifying installation issues and resolving problems before they impact the program

Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and presentation

Ensuring works are completed safely and in accordance with project requirements

Assisting with commissioning, testing and handover





Reporting project progress and requirements to management

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Holds a current ARCtick Refrigerant Handling Licence

Has solid commercial and residential air conditioning installation experience

Has experience with VRV/VRF systems

Can confidently read mechanical drawings and specifications

Can effectively manage and motivate a site team

Takes ownership of projects and workmanship

Has strong communication and problem-solving skills

Holds a current Australian Driver Licence

Construction White Card required

Experience with Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic and similar commercial systems is highly regarded
