The Opportunity
We are looking for a Heritage Consultant for our Queensland Heritage business, with experience particularly in Aboriginal cultural heritage. Experience in historical heritage management will also be considered favourably.
In this role, you will be responsible for technical project delivery including undertaking due diligence assessments, cultural heritage surveys and reporting. This position is a maternity leave back-fill role for a consultant ideally located in southeast Queensland and willing to travel to service our projects across Queensland.
You will provide technical interpretation and advice in response to client needs, contribute to project managements, and lead field work. Working closely with the Manager and senior team members, you will help ensure Project Delivery Excellence.
Key responsibilities
Prepare high-quality due diligence assessment and impact assessment reports and management plans in compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
Conduct Aboriginal and historical heritage assessments, including field surveys and excavations,
stakeholder consultation, and reporting.
Produceaccurateand complex technical deliverables,analysisand reports.
Contribute to project management ensuring that timelines and budgets are met.
Qualifications and experience
Honours or equivalent degreeinarchaeology orheritagemanagement.
Experience in Aboriginalculturalheritage management in Queensland including a robust understanding of Queensland heritage legislation.
Minimum3-5years of experience in heritage consulting.
Demonstrated experience conducting fieldwork independently with Traditional Owner representatives and willingness to travel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Full Australian working rights and a valid driver’s licence.
