We are hiring!Gold Coast Disability and Youth (GCDAY) is seeking experienced and resilient Complex Support Workers to join our growing team.
We are looking for professionals with proven experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, mental health and trauma backgrounds, and restrictive practices. This role is ideal for those experienced working with participants with BPD, PTSD, Schizophrenia, ASD, Intellectual Disability, and other psychosocial disabilities.
Successful applicants will be confident implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), following restrictive practice requirements, and using trauma-informed, person-centred approaches to safely support participants. Experience with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or similar de‑scalation training is highly regarded.
Support is provided across community access, in‑home support, skill development, SIL, and overnight sleepovers throughout the Gold Coast and Logan Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred support that promotes independence and wellbeing.
- Support participants with complex behaviours and mental health needs using trauma‑informed approaches.
- Implement PBSPs, risk management strategies, and restrictive practice requirements.
- Apply TCI principles and de‑scalation techniques during behavioural escalation.
- Assist participants with daily living, community participation, and goal achievement.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including case notes and incident reports.
- Certificate IV or higher in Disability, Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, mental health, and restrictive practices.
- Experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans.
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice.
- Availability for adaptable shifts, including sleepovers and weekends.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, Blue Card, First Aid & CPR, and driver’s licence with reliable vehicle.
Highly Desirable
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training or equivalent.
- Experience within SIL, ILO, Youth Justice, Residential Care, or Child Safety.
- Knowledge of NDIS restrictive practice legislation and reporting requirements.
- Medication experience and experience supporting psychosocial disabilities.
