New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine, it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports. Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Processing Manager to lead our Processing Department at the Porgera Mine operations. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Processing Manager will play a critical role in designing and managing strategies and systems to ensure optimum processing plant performance and gold recovery. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in gold processing operations, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving results in large, complex operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the strategic operating plan and production budget for the Processing Department to achieve long and short-term objectives aligned with the Life of Mine Plan.
Manage and optimize the relationship between the Processing Plant, Assay Laboratory, and Metallurgy departments.
Ensure implementation of processing plant security action plans within the maintenance or processing disciplines, with a focus on non-compliance management.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve safe and healthy working conditions, environmental targets, and legal compliance.
Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in NPL’s mining activities, consistent with our Community Relations Policies.
Lead engagement initiatives with the local community to leave a positive impact on long-term outcomes and promote integration with the business's success.
Develop and manage the department's Annual Plan and budget, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
Drive collaboration and sharing of common infrastructure and support services across Barrick Niugini Limited.
Requirements:
Minimum of 15 years' experience in processing operations, with significant experience in large complex operations. Ideally gold processing operations.
Ideally possess autoclave experience or experience in similar large-scale processing plants.
Background in metallurgy, chemical engineering, or related field is ideal.
At least 3 years of experience as a Processing Manager, with a strong track record of managing budgets, forecasts, and production variance reporting.
Previous experience as a Metallurgical Superintendent is advantageous.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and coach national leaders effectively.
Expat experience in a developing country is beneficial but not essential.
Hands‑on approach to problem‑solving, with a willingness to work at various levels to resolve issues.
Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and move towards a culture of partnership and accountability.
