The USDS Video Platform team seeks a Site Reliability Engineer to help ensure the reliability and scalability of TikTok's video system. This role focuses on managing data pipelines and supporting the broader Video Architecture platform.
Responsibilities
Manage day‐to‐day operations of data services, including realtime and batch pipelines, SLA management, deployment, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
Proactively monitor and troubleshoot pipelines and systems for performance issues, errors, or anomalies.
Create tools, build alarms and dashboards, and drive internal process improvements and automation to monitor and enhance data engineering operations.
Improve system reliability, efficiency, and velocity through scaling, resource optimization, workflow optimization, and potential refactoring or current solutions.
Develop and deploy new reliable and scalable data pipelines and infrastructure components as required by business needs.




Collaborate closely with data engineering and various vertical teams within the Video Architecture platform.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
Solid programming experience with SQL and at least one of Java, Python, Go, or Scala.
Experience in data engineering with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance, and capacity management.
Solid experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Flink, YARN) and databases (SQL, NoSQL).
Knowledge of data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Airflow and Luigi.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated independent thinking and solid troubleshooting skills in large‐scale distributed systems.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Experience building data solutions on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
