The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented State Container Controller to join our Brisbane Operations team.
This role is responsible for managing container equipment across Queensland, ensuring sufficient stock is available to support export requirements while coordinating the movement and repositioning of surplus containers. Working closely with depots, terminals, internal stakeholders and customers, you'll play a critical role in maintaining equipment availability and supporting the efficient movement of cargo throughout the MSC network.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Managing container stock levels to ensure sufficient equipment is available to meet Queensland export demand.
- Coordinating the repositioning and evacuation of surplus empty containers in line with operational requirements and vessel capacity.
- Issuing container release instructions to depots and customers.
- Reviewing specialised equipment requirements to accommodate cargo bookings.
- Monitoring forecasts and stock reports to identify equipment surpluses or shortages and support effective planning.
- Processing and coding supplier invoices relating to container transport and handling activities.
- Conducting depot audits and reviewing surveying, repair and wash procedures to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Building strong working relationships with Customer Service,
Commercial, Operations teams, depots, terminals and customers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience within shipping, container logistics, freight forwarding or a related logistics environment is highly regarded.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive approach and the ability to build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
