About the role

Reporting to the Catering Manager and working closely with our residents, colleagues and Dietician, this role is responsible for ensuring that our resident’s meals are prepared to the highest standard and quality. Duties include meal preparation and cooking in line with menus set by our Dietician, ordering stock, overseeing kitchenhand staff and ensuring that the kitchen is clean and in excellent working order. You will also be responsible for filling in when the Catering Manager is on leave and will be responsible for ordering and leading the team during these periods.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the Catering Manager in managing the kitchen
- Efficient and cost conscious as possible, while maintaining a high standard of meal variety, quality and presentation
- Comply with legislation, including the Aged Care Standards and food regulations and HACCP regulations
- Liaise with other managers in a flexible and cooperative manner regarding catering services
- Consult with the Catering Manager to implement new menu items and follow set menus
- Maintain a high standard of resident nutritional care, prepare special diets following consultation with the Catering Manager / Chef and dietician.
- Support the Catering Manager implement and maintain continuous quality improvement activities
- Identify & Liaise on the educational needs of staff in the kitchento the Catering Manager
- Support the Catering Manager to maintain stock control and goods rotation with strict storage control
- Support in menu planning and review, including special diets with menus that should be reflective of the cultural diversity and changing preferences and requests of residents and clients in the community
- Supervision of catering team in the absence of the Catering Manager
- Ensure that the kitchen area is clean and maintained
- Report on any equipment / maintenance requirements




- To ensure that all invoices and delivery dockets are signed and forwarded directly to the Catering Manager

Skills and Experience

- Experience in working within a adaptable, multi-skilled team environment with strong interpersonal, communication and client service skills
- Minimum 12 months experience working in a kitchen environment
- Experience Implementing Quality Care Systems
- Computer literate with the ability to order and invoice
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team, as well as the confidence to workindependently
