Melbourne CBD · Full-time · 4 to 5 years PAE · Global law firm
The firm and team
This is a well-regarded Employment practice within a large global law firm with a solid Australian presence and close connections to an international network spanning nearly 70 offices worldwide. The team advises global, multinational, and local clients across a broad range of sectors including energy, resources, construction, financial services, insurance, and technology. The work spans both contentious and non-contentious employment matters, and the client base is genuinely varied in scale and industry.
The role
Working across the full spectrum of employment law, you will advise clients on:
Workforce conduct issues, internal investigations, and implementation of recommendations
Large scale restructuring exercises including employee communications and documentation
Start-up employment infrastructure, corporate governance, and senior executive incentive schemes
Compliance with local employment laws and regulations, including liaison with correspondent firms across the region
Employment due diligence, warranties, indemnities, and employee transfer matters arising from corporate transactions
Drafting and amending employment contracts, handbooks, policies, and procedures
Complex employment disputes in courts and tribunals, and settlement of disputes
Remuneration and perks, grievance and disciplinary procedures, termination, and immigration matters
The role has genuine breadth. You will be advising across sectors and across the contentious and non-contentious divide, which makes for a more compelling and varied practice than most employment roles at this level.
What we are looking for
4 to 5 years PAE in employment law, gained at a large international or top-tier regional firm
Experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
Australia-wide experience is an advantage
Strong academics and excellent drafting and communication skills
Admitted to practise in Australia with a current Victorian practising certificate
What is on offer
Competitive remuneration commensurate with experience at a global firm
Hybrid working arrangements
Access to an international client base and cross-border employment matters
Structured career development and mentoring
Pro bono program and a firm-wide commitment to diversity and inclusion
A genuinely collegial team environment within a well-resourced global practice
