Australian Plastic Profiles Pty Ltd is a leading manufacturer of Pipe King PVC pressure pipes, fittings, profiles and conduits for the building and telecommunications industries. The company, part of the Legrand international group, has a national presence with production centred in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.
Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Maintenance Team and play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our production equipment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown maintenance across a range of manufacturing and production equipment. Working closely with production and engineering teams, you will help maximise equipment uptime, improve reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment.
Respond to equipment breakdowns and safely execute repairs to minimise downtime.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults on production machinery.
Carry out installation, modification, and commissioning of plant and equipment.
Complete maintenance records and work orders accurately using maintenance systems.
Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects.
Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance personnel to improve equipment performance.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Trade qualifications as a Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatic systems, and other production equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Flexibility to participate in overtime and call-out requirements when needed.
To work weekends on a rotating roster to support operational requirements.
