Queensland

There are ASX listed businesses that look impressive on paper and ones that have genuinely earned it. This one sits in the second category. With billions in revenue, a national footprint spanning hundreds of locations and a growing international presence, it is one of the most recognised and commercially sophisticated businesses in its sector.

The Queensland operation is a large and strategically important part of the broader group, with a regional finance function that operates at serious pace and genuine commercial depth. For someone who wants the scale and resources of a major listed business without the noise and politics of a head office environment, this is an unusual combination.

The Role

Reporting to the Regional General Manager Finance, the Business Analyst sits at the commercial centre of the Queensland region, a network of approximately across 13 hub locations spanning every major franchise in the group.

This is not a report maintenance role. The questions you will be working on are real and consequential: right-sizing the workforce across departments and franchises, evaluating incoming brands and pruning underperforming ones, modelling capital replacement schedules, assessing gross profit and expense trends across a network of thousands of employees. You will pull data from the data warehouse, build it into clean, meaningful Power BI outputs, and get it in front of the people who need to act on it, before they have thought to ask.

The Regional GM Finance is emphatic about one thing: she needs someone who already thinks like a reader, not just a producer. When you hand over a piece of analysis, the questions the reader is going to ask next should already be answered inside it. If the data is telling a different story than expected, you should notice and say so. If you need to be told what to think about, this is not your role.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

- Building, maintaining and enhancing Power BI reports and dashboards for the Queensland regional finance team and internal stakeholders, drawing from the Azure data warehouse

- Analysing and presenting commercial and financial data across dealership performance, franchise productivity, staffing levels, gross profit, expenses and revenue trends
- Supporting right-sizing and cost analysis projects, including staffing efficiency modelling by department, franchise and hub
- Conducting brand and franchise analysis to support strategic decisions around incoming brands, franchise pruning and footprint expansion
- Preparing asset register reviews and capital expenditure analysis including useful life assessments, replacement scheduling and capital outlay forecasting
- Providing ad hoc data and graphical reporting to HR, Used Cars, Finance and Insurance and Aftermarket teams for presentations and operational decision-making
- Reviewing and quality-checking submitted packs including FBT and half-year packs for completeness, accuracy and compliance across the network
- Supporting data-led presentations to dealer principals and hub leadership on performance metrics, velocity models and operational benchmarking
- Onboarding new senior staff into the reporting setting, walking them through key reports, data structures and how to adapt outputs to their needs
- Proactively surfacing insights and emerging narratives in the data, bringing them to the Regional GM Finance before being asked

About You

You have worked in a real commercial environment where something is made, sold or serviced at a margin, and that experience shows in how you approach analysis. You do not wait to be told what the data means. You build an opinion, pressure-test it and communicate it with clarity and confidence to people at every level of a large organisation,

from finance leaders to operational managers who have never opened a spreadsheet in their lives.

You are a genuine Power BI practitioner, capable of going from a raw data pull to a clean, decision-ready output without a lot of hand-holding. You manage your own work, check in at the right moments and deliver something usable, not something that needs to be rebuilt. Industry-specific experience is a genuine advantage here, though what matters most is the commercial instinct and the technical capability. The industry knowledge can be learned. The mindset cannot.

Skills & Experience

To be effective in this role, you will likely bring:

- Solid commercial experience in an environment where financial and operational data drives business decisions
- Proven Power BI capability as a report builder, added bonus Power Query and DAX experience
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate data into insight stakeholders can act on
- Confidence presenting to senior leaders and diverse non-finance audiences
- A commerce or accounting degree, or equivalent qualification by experience
- Comfort with ambiguity, independent problem-solving and delivering to 80 percent without constant direction
- Experience in a complex, multi-site operational environment will be well regarded, though candidates from other sectors with strong commercial analytical experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

What's On Offer

- Direct access to one of the most commercially astute regional finance leaders in the business, with close to 20 years in the group and a genuine investment in the people around her
- Commercially consequential work across a genuinely complex ASX listed business, including franchise analysis, workforce modelling, capital planning and network performance
- The scale and resources of a major listed business inside a quiet, low-noise suburban office, without the bureaucracy of a CBD head office
- A role that will adapt to the right person, with scope to grow and expand based on what you bring to the seat
