Position Purpose
The Warehouse Supevisor is responsible for the overall leadership, organisation, and performance of the warehouse and inventory operations. This role ensures that all leather and hide products are received, stored, managed, and dispatched accurately, safely, and efficiently, in line with company standards and customer expectations.

As a warehouse Supevisor, you'll need to liaise with customers, suppliers and transport companies
Coordinate and monitor the receipt, order, assembly and dispatch of goods, utilise space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met
The ideal candidate is exceptionally detail-oriented and able to manage multiple facets of warehouse operations simultaneously. Understanding, you will be required to wear multiple hats and do the physical work when required.
Key Deliverables
Outcomes (in order of priority)
Warehouse Management & Leadership
- Take full ownership of warehouse standards, accuracy, safety, and daily performance.
- Lead by example with a hands‑on approach while maintaining accountability across all warehouse operations.
- Ensure processes are followed, issues are addressed promptly, and risks affecting customers, deliveries, or stock are proactively identified and managed.
- Maintain smooth warehouse operations during periods of high volume, staffing changes, or disruptions.
- Foster a clean, organised, and safe working environment where everything has a defined place.
- Treat customers, carriers, and staff with professionalism and respect at all times.
- Weekly and ongoing communication with Supply Chain Supevisor to discuss stock requirements
- Must be knowledgeable about safety regulations and protocols for handling and moving of products.
- They are also expected to assist in training new personnel and provide support to maintenance personnel when needed
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with legal regulations
Logistics & Transport Coordination
- Manage and coordinate courier and transport providers, including negotiating and analysing transport quotations.
- Select cost‑effective and reliable carriers based on metro and regional delivery requirements.
- Monitor daily dispatch schedules and ensure deliveries meet time and service expectations.
- Track delayed or missing deliveries and work with carriers to resolve issues promptly.Ensure freight documentation and manifests are accurate, complete, and correctly issued.
Inventory Management & Control
- Oversee the unloading, checking, and organisation of incoming inventory into designated storage areas.
- Maintain strict control over stock accuracy, including stock lots, variations, and hide conditions.
- Maintain and respect quality of stock which is expensive.
- Investigate and resolve all stock discrepancies with documented corrective actions.
- Ensure system stock levels accurately reflect physical stock at all times.
- Maintain clear product identification, labelling, and segregation across all stock and product types.
- Apply correct stock rotation practices (oldest to newest) to maintain product accuracy .
- Maintain a thorough understanding of product coding, descriptions, and invoicing requirements.
- Develop strong knowledge of product range, including leather types, grades, and variations.
- As well as knowledge of what inventory originates from which supplier.
- Complete regular stock counts and an annual full stocktake with accurate reporting.
- Manage warehouse space efficiently to optimise storage, accessibility, and workflow.
Distribution, Picking & Dispatch
- Oversee accurate picking, packing, and checking of all orders prior to dispatch.
- Ensure outgoing deliveries are checked for accuracy before invoicing and dispatch.
- Maintain tidy, clearly organised shelving and storage for all products and materials.
- Coordinate closely with the Supply Chain Supevisor to maintain agreed inventory levels.
- Monitor incoming consignments and regularly audit delivery accuracy.
- Ensure all cartons and shelves are clearly labelled to support accurate identification and invoicing.
Systems, Records & Administration
- Maintain accurate warehouse records to support audits, stock investigations, and financial controls.
- Ensure warehouse procedures align with system processes and administrative requirements.
- Support improvements to warehouse systems, reporting accuracy, and data integrity in collaboration with Administration and Finance.
- Ensure invoicing is completed accurately and on the same day goods are dispatched.
- Ensure no goods leave the warehouse without an invoice or approved documentation.
- Maintain accurate documentation for returns, credits, and customer communications.
- Ensure returned goods follow approved procedures before credit notes are raised.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word & Outlook.
- Other computer packages include Cubic and Sage.
Tools, Materials & Equipment
- Manage warehouse consumables and materials including packing supplies, pallets, and freight documentation.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of all packing and freight materials at all times.
- Ensure warehouse equipment and tools are used safely and maintained appropriately.
