We are partnering with a large, complex organisation to appoint an experienced Payroll Remediation Program Manager to lead a critical remediation initiative. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for delivering a large-scale payroll remediation program, addressing historical discrepancies and ensuring full compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. You will lead a multidisciplinary team and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to deliver accurate, transparent, and timely outcomes.
This role requires a confident and resilient leader who can operate in a sensitive, fast-paced environment and drive outcomes through both technical expertise and strong stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of the payroll remediation program, including planning, execution, quality assurance, and close-out
- Establish and manage a dedicated remediation team, driving capability uplift, performance, and delivery outcomes
- Define remediation methodologies, prioritisation approaches, and case management processes
- Proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies to ensure program success
Program Leadership
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of the payroll remediation program, including planning, execution, quality assurance, and close-out

- Proactively manage risks, issues,

Compliance & Technical Oversight
- Oversee payroll data analysis, recalculations, and validation processes
- Ensure consistent and defensible treatment of complex payroll scenarios (including terminations, allowances, penalties, superannuation, and taxation)
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work, ATO, superannuation, and record-keeping obligations
- Partner with Legal, Audit, and external advisors to support assurance activities and regulatory requirements
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the central subject matter expert and escalation point for payroll remediation matters
- Provide clear, timely communication to senior leaders on progress, risks, and key decisions
- Work closely with Communications, HR, Finance, and Employee Relations to support employee engagement and transparency
- Build and maintain strong relationships across project and business-as-usual teams
Reporting & Insights
- Develop and deliver accurate reporting on program progress, financial exposure, risks, and case volumes
- Provide executive-level insights to support decision-making and potential disclosures
- Monitor key performance indicators to ensure delivery milestones and quality outcomes are achieved
Continuous Improvement
- Identify root causes of payroll issues and contribute to longer-term control improvements
- Support the transition of processes, documentation, and knowledge into ongoing operations
- Ensure all remediation documentation meets compliance and governance requirements
About You
You are a seasoned payroll, industrial relations or remediation professional with experience delivering complex programs in large organisations. You bring strong judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to lead teams through high-pressure environments.
Key Requirements
- Extensive senior-level experience in payroll, industrial relations, or related disciplines
- Proven experience leading payroll remediation or large-scale payroll review programs
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, industrial instruments, superannuation, and taxation
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver outcomes in complex environments
- Robust analytical skills with the ability to interpret large, complex data sets
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with executives and external regulators
Desirable
- Experience within highly regulated or complex operational environments
- Exposure to enterprise payroll systems
- Experience working on regulatory audits, remediation programs, or enforceable undertakings
- Project management experience or formal qualification
