About the Position: The Pharmacist plays a central role in the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care at North Buderim Pharmacy. Working as part of a professional team, the successful candidate will be responsible for dispensing medicines, providing clinical advice, supporting vaccination and other pharmacy services, and mentoring junior staff to ensure high standards of patient safety and service quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and assess prescriptions, review medication histories, confirm dosages and identify potential interactions before dispensing. Prepare or oversee the accurate preparation and labelling of prescription medicines.
- Provide advice to prescribers on contraindications, interactions and appropriate medication use.
Monitor and evaluate patients’ medication regimens to optimise therapeutic outcomes. Dispense medicines in accordance with legislation, clinical guidelines and therapeutic principles.
- Maintain accurate prescription records and control of regulated medications (including narcotics and poisons). Claim PBS items and resolve claiming issues. Supervise preparation of dose administration aids, check packs and maintain packing records.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of vaccines and vaccination programs and deliver immunisations according to policy. Provide over-the-counter advice and perform services such as Staged Supply, MedsCheck and disease state management. Supervise, guide and train pharmacy interns, technicians and sales assistants.
- Maintain appropriate dispensary stock levels, monitor expiry dates and ensure correct storage. Maintain professional relationships with patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. Relevant bachelor’s degree. Minimum 1 year work experience as a registered pharmacist.
- Current registration as a Pharmacist with a valid licence to practise in Australia. Vaccination Certificate. Current first aid and CPR certificate.
- Robust written and interpersonal communication skills. Commitment to high-quality pharmaceutical care and patient safety. Proficient knowledge of pharmacy software and technology.
