Factory Supervisor / Leading Hand Cabinet Maker

About the role

AJT Commercial is seeking an experienced and dynamic Factory Supervisor / Leading Hand Cabinet Maker to join our team in Nerang, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers the perfect blend of hands-on cabinet making expertise and supervisory responsibility. As Factory Supervisor / Leading Hand Cabinet Maker, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our production operations whilst maintaining your involvement in quality cabinet making. You will report directly to management and be responsible for ensuring our workshop runs efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Key responsibilities

- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the cabinet making workshop, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management
- Lead and mentor a team of cabinet makers, providing guidance on techniques, quality standards, and safe working practices
- Ensure all work is completed to specification, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards
- Maintain a safe and compliant working setting, adhering to all health and safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct quality inspections on completed projects and ensure customer satisfaction with finished products
- Actively participate in cabinet making tasks when required, demonstrating expertise and supporting the team during peak periods
- Manage inventory, materials, and equipment, identifying maintenance needs and ordering supplies as necessary
- Communicate effectively with clients, management, and team members regarding project progress and any issues that arise
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Maintain detailed records of production, timesheets, and project documentation

What we’re looking for

- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in cabinet making or carpentry, with a proven track record of producing high-quality work




- At least 2-3 years of supervisory or leading hand experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment
- Strong knowledge of cabinet making techniques, materials, and finishing methods
- Proficiency with workshop machinery and power tools, including table saws, routers, sanders, and finishing equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings accurately
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and WHS legislation
- Valid Australian driver’s licence and forklift licence (preferred)
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in cabinet making, or supervisory management (preferred)
