Our client is a highly respected community-focused organisation delivering employment and support services to culturally diverse communities across Australia. With a strong commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and participant-centred service delivery, the organisation works closely with individuals from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to support long-term employment and community participation outcomes. Due to continued program growth and a funding extension, an opportunity has become available for an experienced employment services professional to oversee an employment services program supporting asylum seekers across NSW.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing a small frontline team delivering employment and community support services to asylum seeker participants. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will lead a team of Employment Consultants and support staff while ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed and participant-centred service delivery. The role will involve overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting staff performance, monitoring KPIs and outcomes, and maintaining strong relationships with employers, community organisations, and local stakeholders. You will also contribute directly to employer engagement activities and assist participants with pathways into sustainable employment opportunities. This position can be based in Sydney, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour or a regional NSW location and will suit a resilient and adaptable Senior Consultant, Team Leader or Employer / Community Engagement Consultant who enjoys working within community-focused environments and can build strong relationships across employers and diverse stakeholder groups. Regular travel will be required consisting of day trips and nights away from home each month. There is flexibility around a base location (likely to be in Sydney, Newcastle, or the Riverina area) and the option to work from home two days a week is also available.

Key Responsibilities





- Lead and support a small employment services team across NSW
- Coach and mentor staff to achieve strong participant and employment outcomes
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, community organisations, and government stakeholders
- Support participants through tailored employment and pathway planning
- Monitor KPIs, compliance requirements, and contractual performance outcomes
- Ensure services are delivered in a trauma-informed and participant-centred manner
- Contribute to employer engagement, business development, and community outreach activities
- Drive a positive team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and quality service delivery

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

- Previous experience within Employment Services, Workforce Australia, JobActive, DES, or similar programs
- Experience as an Employment Consultant, Employer Engagement Officer or Team Leader
- Prior leadership, mentoring, or team management experience highly regarded
- An understanding of the challenges facing asylum seekers’ in Australia, particularly in relation to employment
- Strong understanding of KPIs, compliance, and performance-driven environments
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
- A compassionate, culturally aware, and participant-focused approach
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work autonomously and lead from the front in a regional workplace
