Why You Should Apply
This is a private equity backed business operating close to $1B, growing through acquisition and expanding nationally. The finance function is largely ex Big 4, and the reporting environment is deliberately hands on, Excel heavy and built from the ground up by the people who understand what sits behind it.
The business is looking for an analyst who will first develop a genuine understanding of what drives commercial performance, then use that understanding to improve how the numbers are produced and used, working alongside the finance business partners and the operations teams.
If you want commercial finance work where the analysis you produce is used to make real decisions, this is worth your attention.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Finance Reporting Manager and Group Financial Controller, you will sit between finance, operations and the data team as the person who turns raw data into something leadership can make a decision on. You will support the group strategy valuation model, prepare forecasts through consultation with department heads, and build reporting that people across the business actually use.
The workplace moves. Priorities compete, and you will need to be comfortable asking what matters most this week and managing expectations when three people want three different things by Friday. That is as much the job as the modelling is.
What You'll Do
The role splits across commercial analysis, reporting and the valuation model, with the balance shifting depending on what the business is working through at the time.
- Prepare forecast models through consultation with department heads and finance business partners
- Support the annual budgeting process through to board submission
- Support the group strategy valuation model, including reforecasts, scenario analysis and debt covenant sensitivities
- Prepare feasibility studies for growth initiatives
- Extract and connect data using Power Query, then build and maintain reporting across corporate and site leadership
- Provide insight on key business drivers, working with the finance business partners and the analytics team
- Ad hoc month end support and analysis
- Translate complex analysis into something a non finance stakeholder can act on
Who You Are
This role calls for a capable problem solver who communicates well, manages multiple stakeholders across the business, and holds competing priorities without compromising the quality of the work. Sitting underneath that is a genuine technical foundation, advanced Excel modelling and Power Query are used daily, and you will need both to support the wider finance team properly.
- Experience in a finance function with a genuine interest in modelling and commercial analysis
- Advanced Excel financial modelling, including scenario analysis and working with large data sets
- Working knowledge of Power Query, enough to extract data, connect sources and build something reliable
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment
- A commercial mindset, curious about why the business does what it does before proposing a better way
- Strong communicator, comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and translating detail for non finance audiences
- Degree qualified (Bachelor level or higher) in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
- Big 4 or large M&A; background is a strong advantage, the team will relate to how you were trained
- CA or CPA qualified or progressing, advantageous
- Power BI, particularly M Code and DAX, advantageous
The Offer
$120k to $130k + super, two days working from home, free parking, fitness passport and end of trip facilities. You will join a finance team with serious training behind them, a business with an active acquisition pipeline, and a leadership group that genuinely uses the analysis it asks for.
