Chandler Macleod is partnering with Rio Tinto to recruit an HSE Advisor supporting operations across Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL) and Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL).
This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced operational leaders within a complex heavy industrial environment, where you'll play a key role in driving a proactive safety culture, supporting frontline teams and contributing to the safe delivery of critical maintenance and operational activities.

About the Role
As part of the site HSE team, you'll work closely with leaders, contractors and operational personnel to provide practical health and safety support across daily site activities.
- Providing day-to-day HSE support across operational work areas
- Conducting field leadership interactions, workplace inspections and safety observations
- Supporting incident investigations and corrective actions
- Assisting with risk assessments, JHAs, SWMS and other safety documentation
- Coaching and mentoring employees on safe work practices
- Supporting contractor management, inductions and onboarding activities
- Participating in toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and safety initiatives
- Monitoring hazards, controls and action close-out to support continuous improvement
- Promoting compliance with site procedures, standards and legislative requirements
About You
- Relevant HSE or WHS qualifications (Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry qualification preferred)
- Experience within heavy industry, mining, manufacturing, construction, processing or similar operational environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of site
- A practical understanding of risk management, safety systems and legislative compliance
- The confidence to engage with frontline teams and influence positive safety outcomes
Candidates with approximately 12 months of relevant HSE experience are encouraged to apply if they demonstrate strong capability, initiative and a willingness to learn.
