The Penguin Pantry is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Barista to join our team in Penguin, Tasmania. This is a casual position offering flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle. As a Barista, you will be at the heart of our hospitality operation, creating exceptional coffee experiences and providing outstanding customer service to our valued guests. This role is crucial to establishing the welcoming atmosphere and quality standards that define our venue.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and serving high-quality espresso-based beverages and specialty coffee drinks
- Operating and maintaining espresso machines and other coffee-making equipment to the highest standards
- Taking customer orders and processing payments accurately and efficiently
- Providing friendly, attentive customer service and building positive relationships with regular patrons
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the service area, including equipment and work stations
- Managing stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies as required
- Working collaboratively with team members during busy service periods
- Following all food safety and health regulations

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a Barista in a busy hospitality environment
- Strong knowledge of coffee varieties, brewing methods and espresso technique




- Barista certification or formal training in coffee preparation is highly desirable
- Excellent customer service skills with a genuine passion for hospitality
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining quality standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety
- Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to adapt to casual shift patterns
- Positive attitude and strong communication skills
- Basic mathematical ability for handling transactions and managing stock
