About the Company

Our client is a leading travel technology business with ambitious international growth plans and a significant investment in modernising its technology landscape. Operating as an independent technology team, they're embarking on a major transformation to replace a 20-year legacy platform with a modern Microsoft ecosystem that will support the business for years to come.

With a strategic partnership with Microsoft, the engineering team works closely with Microsoft's own solution architects to shape best practice architecture, leverage emerging technologies and deliver innovative digital products across the travel industry.

This role would suit someone with extensive experience in a Microsoft environment, combining deep Azure architecture expertise with hands-on .NET development.

About the Role

This is a senior individual contributor position that combines technical leadership, software architecture and hands-on engineering. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll own the technical direction for a team of five engineers while partnering closely with the Solution Architect to design scalable, cloud-native solutions.

You'll spend approximately 70% of your time driving architecture, mentoring engineers and making key technical decisions, with the remaining 30% remaining hands-on across full-stack development.

A key focus of the role will be designing and operating Azure infrastructure, building scalable API integrations and modern microservices architecture that powers real-time travel booking platforms. You'll also play a leading role in the team's adoption of AI-assisted software engineering, establishing standards and best practices for tools such as Claude Code and Git Hub Copilot.

Working across customer booking platforms,



consultant portals and partner applications, you'll help shape the architecture that underpins the next phase of the company's international growth.

Key Skills

- Extensive experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Software Engineer or Software Architect within a Microsoft environment.
- Deep expertise designing, building and operating Azure infrastructure, including Landing Zones, Bicep (Infrastructure as Code), Container Apps, Networking, Azure API Management, Key Vault and RBAC.
- Strong experience designing scalable cloud-native and microservices architectures.
- Hands-on .NET development experience building REST APIs and up-to-date web applications.
- Experience with React and Type Script front-end development.
- Strong understanding of API integration patterns, enterprise integration and high-volume transactional systems.
- Experience mentoring engineers through technical leadership, code reviews and engineering best practices.
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
- Exposure to AI-assisted software engineering tools such as Claude Code, Git Hub Copilot or similar.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, security and engineering quality.
- Experience working within a digital product or technology-led environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be highly regarded.
