Our client, a leading Australian bank, is seeking an experiencedLead Data Engineering Consultantto join their Institutional Banking & Markets team.
This is a high-impact role for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in a cooperative environment, working across internal and vendor teams to deliver complex financial reconciliation solutions.
About the Role:
You will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering the reconciliation staging area/data store for securities products, ensuring external MT messages reconcile accurately against internal trade positions.
This includes importing data, defining data structures, setting up reconciliation rules in Intellimatch, and producing reports for matched/unmatched items.
You will lead engineering tasks, coordinate across onshore/offshore teams, and ensure alignment with architecture, engineering standards, and security requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead solution design and technical delivery for the reconciliation staging/data store
Coordinate and direct engineering tasks across internal and vendor teams
Work closely with architecture, reconciliation SMEs, and FIS Matching teams




Define ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and quality-control patterns
Ensure adherence to engineering patterns, security controls, and best practices
Mandatory Skills:
8–10 years of relevant experience in data engineering or financial services
AWS: S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM
Strong SQL skills and data modelling experience (financial reconciliation preferred)
ETL/ELT tooling experience (Glue, Airflow, or dbt)
Data lake and warehouse design experience
Experience in regulated financial settings (banking preferred)
Exposure to reconciliation platforms such as FIS, Intellimatch, SmartStream, OneSumX
Python or PySpark programming
Experience with data quality and monitoring frameworks
