We have an exciting opportunity for a GIS and Systems Analyst to join the Parks Branch within Logan City Council.

The Parks Branch is responsible for the planning, management and maintenance of Council's extensive parks, open spaces and recreational assets across the City of Logan. Working closely with Asset Management, Information Services and operational teams, the Branch delivers sustainable outcomes that support the growing needs of our community.

This position is a key technical leadership role providing expert advice in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data management and asset information systems. As the primary interface between Parks asset management, Council-wide spatial information systems and digital transformation initiatives, you will lead critical GIS projects and improve the quality, governance and accessibility of spatial data across the Parks Branch.

Position Responsibilities include:

Strategic GIS Leadership

- Lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of GIS capability across the Parks Branch.
- Provide specialist GIS and spatial data advice to management, stakeholders and operational teams.
- Represent Parks at Council GIS User Groups and relevant industry forums.
- Investigate, pilot and implement innovative GIS technologies, mobility solutions and data transformation processes.
- Develop spatial solutions and prototypes to support operational and strategic business outcomes.
- Contribute GIS analysis and spatial insights to the Parks Asset Management Plan and renewal programs.

GIS Asset Data Management & Integrity

- Manage and maintain Parks Branch spatial asset and maintenance data.
- Establish GIS data governance standards, quality assurance processes and procedures.
- Validate and process XML asset data submissions from capital works contractors and contributed asset projects.
- Monitor and improve the completeness, accuracy and integrity of spatial datasets.
- Support asset register development and lifecycle management activities.

Contract & Project GIS Support

- Develop GIS mapping products, maintenance schedules and asset documentation for contract administration and tendering processes.
- Maintain GIS data reflecting new developments,



capital works and asset changes.
- Coordinate procurement and management of external spatial data capture and condition assessment services.

Spatial Products & Technical Services

- Produce digital and hardcopy maps, drawings, reports and spatial analysis products.
- Support emergency operations through the provision of mapping and spatial information.
- Maintain Parks green layer datasets and park boundary mapping.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Parks staff in the use of GIS systems and spatial data.
- The primary focus of this fixed-term contract will be the successful delivery of:
- Spatial Schema Development
- XML Upload Capability
- Operational Register Spatial Mapping
- Green Layer Digital Transformation Program (DTP) Readiness
- OpenData Publication
- Business Continuity and Knowledge Transfer

Key indicators for success:

- Demonstrated expertise in GIS particularly in the application and administration of ArcGIS Pro and associated ESRI platforms and tools.
- Experience in GIS administration, spatial data management and spatial analysis.
- Experience managing asset data systems and supporting asset register development and governance.
- Knowledge of as-constructed asset processes, asset data capture and financial asset management principles is highly regarded.
- Experience with FME, python and OpenData platforms is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to manage technical projects and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Experience leading or coordinating technical staff and workloads.
- Degree in GIS, Spatial Science, Information Technology, Asset Management or a related discipline highly regarded.
- Associate Diploma with substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of qualifications, expertise and demonstrated capability,



will also be considered.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
- Current working rights for Australia.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police History Check.
