The Role
As the Headquarters 8th Brigade Business Intelligence Officer, you will provide critical resource management, performance reporting and analytical support that enables Defence leaders to make informed decisions regarding capability generation, resource allocation, funding priorities and organisational performance.
Through analysis of complex data and resource information, you will identify trends, risks and opportunities, delivering insights that support both immediate operational requirements and longer-term planning activities. You will develop and maintain resource management products and reporting that provides a clear picture of resource utilisation and organisational performance.
You will contribute to capability planning, strategic initiatives and business improvement activities, ensuring decision-makers have access to accurate, timely and reliable information. You will provide advice and recommendations supporting resource allocation, governance and the achievement of organisational objectives.
The role requires sound judgement, initiative and robust stakeholder engagement skills to solve complex problems, improve business processes and deliver resource outcomes supporting Defence's mission and objectives.
About our Team
Headquarters 8th Brigade plays a critical role in generating the Army Reserve (SERCAT 5) workforce through the delivery of individual training, contributing directly to Defence's ability to deliver an integrated and capable force.
The Brigade commands six University Regiments located across Australia, providing a unique operating environment that combines strategic planning with the coordination of geographically dispersed units. Our workforce comprises a diverse mix of Australian Public Service employees alongside Permanent Army (SERCAT 7)
and Army Reserve (SERCAT 5) personnel, creating a highly collaborative and integrated workplace.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a motivated and high-performing professional with strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify resource challenges and deliver practical, evidence-based solutions. You will analyse complex data, identify trends, risks and opportunities, and provide clear advice to support decision-making.
The successful candidate will build strong stakeholder relationships, influence outcomes and provide trusted resource management advice. Working with staff across geographically dispersed University Regiments, you will provide guidance, coaching and support to strengthen capability and promote consistent resource management practices.
You will demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and accountability, managing competing priorities while delivering quality outcomes. Experience in resource management, business intelligence, governance, strategic planning, performance reporting or business improvement is highly regarded. Proficiency with systems such as Excel, Power BI, SAP, PMKeys or ROMAN will be highly advantageous.
