About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Academic Head, Business to join our team on six month fixed term basis. This role offers the opportunity to lead a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture where staff are supported to excel and ensure high standards of performance, scholarship and professional practice are maintained. The role is accountable for the quality of teaching, curriculum, assessment and educational outcomes, ensuring programs remain contemporary, evidence-informed and responsive to the evolving needs of students, industry and higher education.

The role contributes to the strategic direction of teaching and learning through participation in college committees and collaboration with UNSW colleagues and external stakeholders to support quality assurance, continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Your day to day will consist of:

Provide academic, operational and people leadership to the Business Department, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality programs, curriculum and assessment that achieve excellent student outcomes and support the College's strategic objectives and priorities

Lead and continuously enhance teaching, learning and assessment practices to ensure they are contemporary, evidence‑informed, technology‑enabled and responsive to the evolving needs of students, industry and higher education.

Provide operational leadership for the department, ensuring the effective planning,



prioritisation and timely delivery of key academic and operational activities, including assessment production and marking, results approval, performance review processes, and other critical departmental deadlines.

Mentor and develop teaching staff, fostering a culture of scholarship, continuous improvement and professional growth through the MyCareer@UNSWCollege Framework and other professional development initiatives.

Build and sustain a positive, inclusive and high‑performing team culture where staff are engaged, supported, held accountable and aligned with the College's vision, purpose, values and strategic priorities.

Support relevant courses delivered at external campuses including TNE, through the provision of course materials, marking of assessments and timely response to requests for support.

What makes you perfect for the role?

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

A postgraduate degree in Business, Commerce or related discipline, and at least 5 years of teaching experience in secondary, tertiary or pathway education.

Strong capability to build and sustain a positive, inclusive and high‑performing team culture that promotes collaboration, scholarship,



continuous improvement and accountability.

Proven experience in academic leadership, including leading and developing large teams of educators to deliver high-quality teaching, curriculum and student outcomes.

Demonstrated experience leading academic teams through organisational, educational or technological change, while maintaining staff engagement, academic quality and operational effectiveness

Established ability to lead the operational management of a complex academic environment, including workforce planning, resource management, effective prioritisation and the timely delivery of key academic and organisational outcomes.

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective networks and relationships with staff, students, the university, and other stakeholders.
