Mental Health Counsellor/Group Therapist Casual
Hirondelle Private Hospital is part of iMH, one of Australia's growing providers of private mental health services. Located in Chatswood, Hirondelle provides specialist inpatient and outpatient mental health care to the Northern Sydney community.
Our multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and allied health clinicians work collaboratively to deliver evidence-based treatment for adults experiencing mental health, trauma and addiction-related difficulties.
As our Allied Health Department continues to expand, we are seeking passionate Group Therapists who are committed to making a genuine difference in people's lives through high-quality therapeutic group work.
About the Role
This position is ideal for clinicians who enjoy facilitating groups, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and helping clients achieve meaningful recovery.
You will facilitate structured, evidence-based therapeutic groups for both inpatient and outpatient programs while contributing to individual treatment planning, multidisciplinary collaboration and service development.

- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Addictions First Steps
- Therapeutic Process Groups
As our department grows, there will also be opportunities to contribute to the development of new therapeutic programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging, evidence-based therapeutic groups.
- Deliver psychoeducation using ACT, DBT, CBT and other contemporary therapeutic approaches.
- Foster a safe, respectful and recovery-focused therapeutic environment.
- Conduct individual therapeutic sessions where required.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborative treatment planning.
- Complete high-quality clinical documentation and risk management.
- Monitor client progress and provide clinical feedback to the treating team.
- Contribute to ongoing program development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in regular supervision, peer observation and professional development.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or another recognised Allied Health discipline.
- Current registration or membership with one of the following: AHPRA
- Current registration or membership with one of the following: PACFA
- Current registration or membership with one of the following: ACA
- Demonstrated experience facilitating therapeutic groups.
- Experience working with adults experiencing mental health challenges.
- Solid understanding of trauma-informed practice.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and group facilitation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organisational and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Working With Children Check.
- Previous experience working within a private psychiatric hospital.
- Experience facilitating ACT, DBT, CBT or process-oriented psychotherapy groups.
- Experience working with addiction, trauma, PTSD or Dual Diagnosis presentations.
- Training in Motivational Interviewing.
- Knowledge of attachment-based therapies.
- Experience with Yalom-style interpersonal process groups.
- Experience using WebPAS or similar clinical software.
- Experience with VITRO.
