We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join a large Federal Government program focused on building and maintaining high-quality data assets and products within a cloud-based data platform.

This is an initial 12-month contract with a further 12-month extension option, offering open market hourly rates based on experience. This role can be based in Richmond (VIC), Geelong (VIC), ACT or NSW.

The opportunity

Working within a small, multidisciplinary team, you will analyse complex datasets, develop coded transformations and contribute to the design, deployment and ongoing improvement of enterprise data products. You will also provide guidance to junior team members and help maintain strong standards across code, documentation and data quality.

Key responsibilities

- Design, build, deploy and maintain data assets and products within a cloud data platform
- Undertake data wrangling, profiling and quality assessments across new and existing data sources
- Translate business requirements and rules into coded data transformations
- Design and prototype new data attributes, datasets and analytical products
- Complete data validation testing and remediate defects or anomalies
- Present technical options,



findings and recommendations to stakeholders with varying levels of data literacy
- Maintain code, documentation and data quality standards across the team
- Coach junior analysts and contribute to collaborative problem-solving

About you

- Australian Citizenship is mandatory to work for this federal government body
- Current Baseline Clearance
- Extensive data analysis experience, including prototyping solutions from complex and disparate datasets
- At least six years of programming experience across SQL, SAS, R and/or Python
- Experience working within an enterprise data warehouse environment
- Strong understanding of data pipelines, data modelling and reporting platform architectures
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines
- Robust stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate business discussions into clear data flows and process documentation
- Collaborative working style with a strong focus on shared accountability and quality outcomes

Experience with Snowflake, other cloud data platforms, SAS Viya, Microsoft Fabric or Power BI will be highly regarded.
