Sunnybank Junior Rugby Club is a community-focused sporting organisation committed to encouraging young people to participate in rugby and develop their sporting abilities. The Club provides a supportive and inclusive environment where junior players can improve their skills, build confidence, learn teamwork, and enjoy competitive sport. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Sport Development Officer to support the development of our junior rugby programs, players, coaches, and sporting activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching, training, and instructing players by analysing their performance and developing their sporting abilities.
- Planning and directing game strategies, developing play patterns, and analysing game progress.
- Motivating players and supervising training and practice sessions.
- Recruiting players, coaches, and other relevant sporting staff.
- Arranging team and player entries into sporting competitions.
- Promoting rugby participation and skills development within the community.
- Supporting and overseeing the participation of children and young people in sporting activities.
- Officiating at sporting events and ensuring that the rules of the game are followed.
- Coordinating and directing sporting activities, training programs, games, and competitions.
- Liaising with coaches, referees, officials, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Interpreting and enforcing the rules and regulations relating to rugby.
- Assisting with the ongoing development and improvement of the Club’s junior rugby programs.
Requirements
- A relevant qualification in sport development, sports coaching, sports management, physical education, or a related field.
- At least one year of relevant work experience.
- Robust knowledge of rugby rules, coaching techniques, and player development.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- The ability to motivate and work effectively with junior players.
- The ability to work collaboratively with coaches, parents, officials, and Club representatives.
- Availability to work during training sessions, competitions, weekends, and other Club events as required.
