We are seeking experienced and motivated Mainframe Software Developer to join our Consulting customer. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL-based applications in a z/OS mainframe environment.
- Write and optimise complex SQL queries for DB2 for z/OS.
- Integrate COBOL applications with DB2 databases and IBM MQ messaging systems.
- Manage user access and system security using RACF.
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including testers, analysts, and DevOps engineers.
- Contribute to system documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and modernisation efforts using Micro Focus tools.
Required Technical Skills
Candidates must have hands-on experience with the following technologies:
Core Mainframe Technologies (Mandatory)
- SQL query writing and optimisation
- Data modelling and database design
- Use of DB2 utilities (e.g., LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG)
- RACF
- Access control and security enforcement
- IBM MQ
- Message queue design and integration
- Queue/topic management
- JCL (Job Control Language)
- TSO/ISPF
