Fire Extinguisher Technician/ Trainee (Portables Tech)

About the Role
Working in the Rockhampton/Gladstone/Central Queensland region you will be responsible for installation, servicing and or maintenance of a variety of fire protection equipment including Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose Reels, Eye Wash Stations, Fire Blankets and Lay flat Fire Hoses delivering excellence in customer service.
We are seeking motivated individuals who are already in the in the fire protection industry or have a mechanical aptitude and are keen to gain new skills and qualifications. Firelec provides training and upskilling opportunities.

To be successful
You will have proven experience in a similar role, (or the desire to up-skill) and this will include.
- Knowledge and exposure to various brands of portable fire equipment.
- Service of portable and wheeled fire extinguishers & fire blankets
- Service and maintenance of fire hose reels & lay flat fire hose
- Effectively manage available time and resources and be proactive in problem solving and troubleshooting
- Achieve full compliance to service delivery and procedural requirements, including quality, EH&S;, Ethics and Trade Practices
- Survey customer assets and recommend fire protection and safety systems upgrades and repairs
- Identify, service, and repair fire protection and safety systems and equipment in accordance with Australian Standards and manufacturer recommendations
- Report work progress and performance by completing productivity and key performance indicator reports
About You
- The capacity to work a 38-hour week with RDO's
- Up to date product and industry knowledge, and an understanding of where to locate the relevant information
- A solid knowledge of the Australian Standards for portable extinguishers, hose reels and lay flat fire hose (not a requirement for new starters)
- A technical competency with the ability to complete identified company, industry and occupational training and Cert II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing accreditation
- The ability to travel overnight and be part of an on-call roster if required
- QBCC Fire Protection Portables Install and Maintain stream license (advantageous)
- Current Driver’s license
Desired attributes you have:
- Robust knowledge of AS 1851, AS 2444, AS2441
- Previous experience infire protection maintenance or the desire to obtain skills and qualifications
- Up to date product and industry knowledge with portable fire equipment (advantageous)
