Adelaide Care Services is seeking experienced female Mental Health Support Workers who specialise specifically in mental health to join our casual team. You will provide specialised, person-centred support to NDIS participants living with complex psychiatric and behavioural presentations across Greater Adelaide. This is demanding, high-impact work suited to someone with real mental health expertise who remains calm, grounded, and qualified in challenging and crisis situations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialised mental health support to participants with complex psychiatric and behavioural presentations
- Apply advanced de-escalation techniques and manage mental health crises calmly and safely
- Implement Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) strategies consistently and professionally
- Assist with daily living activities (ADLs), personal care, and community access
- Recognise early warning signs and respond appropriately to changes in mental state
- Maintain accurate documentation, including shift notes and incident reports
What we're looking for
- Specialised,
demonstrated experience in mental health support — this is essential, not desirable
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of mental health disorders, including how they present and how to respond
- Proven ability to support participants with complex, high-acuity psychiatric presentations
- Confidence in de-escalation, crisis management, and behaviour support
- A calm, patient, resilient, and person-centred approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility across a range of shifts
Requirements – must have
- Demonstrated specialisation and experience in mental health support
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of mental health disorders
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
- Excellent English communication skills essential
- First Aid & CPR certificate
- Right to work in Australia
