Electrical Designer / Draftsperson (Switchboards & Industrial Electrical)

An Australian manufacturer that designs and builds its own low-voltage switchboards and electrical equipment for data centres, large commercial projects, mining and manufacturing plants.

Working closely with Project Managers, Senior and Electrical Engineers, you'll read and convert plans into 2D/3D CAD designs while overseeing all facets of detailed schematic drafting for switchboards and electrical plant upgrades. LV to MV work, no HV.

Daily:

- Design drafting of switchboards — general arrangements, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules in AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical.
- Produce general electrical arrangement designs and drawings, assembly, manufacturing and industrial electrical system drawings.
- Interpret project specifications and produce single line diagrams.
- Reverse-engineer electrical designs for new equipment to be installed into an active manufacturing environment.
- Learn or have experience designing electrical and PLC panels including power distribution and motor starters (advantageous, not essential).
- Work with production and the testing team through to commissioned product.
- Draft to Australian electrical codes and standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439) and positive engineering practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to OH&S; and quality standards.

About you:

- Degree or TAFE qualified.
- Strong AutoCAD Electrical / AutoCAD. EPLAN is also welcome.
- At least 5 years of experience producing schematics, wiring diagrams, single-lines, panel layouts and cable schedules in Australian industrial manufacturing.
- LV systems, control panels, switchboards, MCCs, VSDs, motors, instrumentation.
- Experience drafting to 11kV, and/or mining or heavy industrial equipment projects, a bonus.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and strong reverse engineering skills are well regarded.
