The Role:
You will provide strategic and operational leadership for a cluster of residential OOHCservices in the Cairns region. This role focuses on supporting children and young people with disabilities, predominantly ASD, ADHD, and complex trauma, who have come through statutory care systems. You will oversee day‑to‑day management and long‑term growth plans. As the Senior Manager, you will lead a growing team of Service Leaders, nurturing a high‑performing and culturally strong workforce. Compliance with safeguarding, quality, and regulatory requirements will be paramount, ensuring child safety and incident management are rigorously upheld. Collaborative partnership with frontline teams will foster trauma‑informed, person‑centred practices to improve outcomes for the children and young people supported. The role requires agile decision‑making to respond to evolving service and commercial demands,
balancing quality care with operational sustainability. This is a hands‑on leadership position based primarily at the Cairns office, requiring some onsite presence across residential locations.
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or relevant equivalent experience
- Demonstrated leadership in complex, fast‑paced human services environments
- Proven ability to manage multiple residential or program services, ideally in Out‑of‑Home Care, disability, child protection, youth justice, or family services sectors
- Strong expertise in safeguarding practices, child safe standards, mandatory reporting, and incident management
- Experience working within highly regulated environments ensuring organisational compliance
- Skilled in implementing trauma‑informed, person‑centred care approaches to improve quality and outcomes for children and young people
- Track record of coaching, developing, and retaining frontline staff and middle managers
- Commercial acumen including budget management, service utilisation oversight, and workforce planning, balancing financial sustainability with quality service delivery
