Lucas Drilling is looking for an experienced candidate to join our maintenance division. Our ideal candidate would be independent, hard-working, highly motivated and hold the relevant competencies. As an NDT Technician, you will perform non-destructive testing and inspections on drilling equipment, plant, structural components, pressure systems, and associated assets. Your expertise will help identify defects, minimise equipment failure risks, and support compliance with legislative, industry, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform NDT inspections using methods including VT, MT, ET, and UT (where appropriately certified).
- Inspect drilling rigs, pressure systems, welded structures, piping, and associated plant and equipment.
- Interpret inspection results and assess defects against relevant standards and acceptance criteria.
- Prepare accurate inspection reports and technical documentation.
- Identify and report non-conformances and critical findings.
- Maintain and calibrate NDT equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Work closely with maintenance, engineering, workshop,
and operational teams to support maintenance planning and asset integrity.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in line with company standards.
- NDT certification (AINDT L2) in one or more inspection disciplines.
- AICIP In-Service Inspector and Drilling Industry experience are highly desirable.
- Experience conducting NDT inspections on heavy plant, mining, drilling, industrial, or structural equipment.
- Robust knowledge of inspection standards, acceptance criteria, and reporting requirements.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong written reporting skills.
