About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Technical Lead to lead the next chapter of Cirrus8's engineering evolution.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll lead a distributed engineering team across Australia and the Philippines while owning the technical direction of a complex, high-availability SaaS platform.

This is a genuine engineering leadership role that combines people leadership, architectural ownership and meaningful hands-on technical contribution. You'll work closely with Product, Design and Delivery to build scalable solutions, drive platform modernisation and foster a high-performing engineering culture.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead the Team

- Lead, coach and develop a distributed engineering team across Australia and the Philippines.
- Build a collaborative, accountable and high-performing engineering culture.
- Drive hiring, onboarding, performance,



coaching and career development.
- Foster strong engineering practices through mentoring, code reviews and knowledge sharing.

Lead the Platform

- Own the technical architecture and long-term direction of Cirrus8.
- Drive the modernisation of our PHP platform towards modern, modular and strongly typed patterns.
- Balance feature delivery with technical debt, platform reliability, security and scalability.
- Safeguard the integrity of complex trust accounting and financial workflows.

Stay Hands-On

- Continue contributing code while leading technical design and architecture decisions.
- Solve complex technical challenges and unblock the team where needed.
- Partner with Product and Design to shape technical solutions from discovery through delivery.

Help Shape AI-Native Engineering

- Champion modern AI-assisted engineering practices across the team.
- Help develop engineering standards, reusable AI workflows and tooling that improve quality, consistency and delivery.
- Promote responsible AI adoption while maintaining high engineering standards.

What We're Looking For

Essential

- Extensive software engineering experience within a SaaS or product-led environment, including experience in a senior engineering leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing software engineers.
- Deep hands-on PHP expertise, including strong Laravel experience.
- Experience modernising mature or legacy software platforms.
- Strong architectural knowledge across APIs, databases, security and scalable SaaS systems.




- Experience improving engineering standards through testing, code review and CI/CD.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to balance technical and commercial priorities.
- A collaborative leadership style with a genuine passion for developing people.

Highly Regarded

- Experience within property management, trust accounting or other compliance-sensitive software.
- Experience leading distributed or offshore engineering teams.
- Experience with AI-assisted software development or modern engineering tooling.
- Experience with Vue.js, cloud infrastructure or observability platforms.
