Mobile Engineer (React Native, iOS & Android)

We're hiring a senior mobile engineer to own the React-based mobile apps that power the PTE portfolio across iOS and Android. Reporting directly to the CTO, this is a high-autonomy role where you'll be handed a product goal, not a spec, and you're expected to plan, build, ship, and maintain without day-to-day hand-holding. You'll work directly across multiple app teams, making architectural calls that other engineers will build on top of.

This role suits someone who has already run mobile projects end-to-end, from technical planning through App Store / Play Store release, and who is comfortable being a senior mobile voice in the room.

What You'll Do

- Own the architecture, build, and release process for React-based iOS and Android apps across one or more PTE portfolio brands.

- Translate product goals directly into technical plans and execution, with minimal specification and minimal oversight.

- Build and maintain shared mobile components and patterns that other engineers and future hires can build on.

- Manage the full app lifecycle:



native builds, App Store / Play Store submissions, versioning, crash monitoring, and performance tuning on real devices.

- Bridge web and mobile — working alongside the existing Next.js / React web codebase and shared design system to keep experiences consistent across platforms.

- Identify and resolve platform-specific issues (iOS/Android quirks, native module integration, performance, battery, memory) without escalation.

- Set technical standards for mobile work across the portfolio: code review norms, CI/CD, release cadence, and testing strategy.

- Communicate progress, trade-offs, and risks proactively to founders/leadership, surfacing problems before they become blockers, not after.

What We're Looking For

- 6+ years of skilled software engineering experience, including 4+ years shipping production React Native (or equivalent cross-platform React) apps to both the App Store and Google Play.

- Demonstrated ownership: you have run mobile projects with minimal supervision, from technical planning through release and post-launch support.

- Deep fluency in React, TypeScript, and mobile-specific concerns: native modules, deep linking, push notifications, offline state, app performance, and platform review guidelines.

- Working knowledge of our backend stack (NestJS, Go, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, AWS)



enough to build and debug API integrations and reason about data flow end-to-end, without needing backend hand-holding.

- Comfortable working across a multi-app portfolio and context-switching between codebases with a shared component library.

- Strong judgment on architecture and trade-offs, able to make and defend technical decisions independently.

- Experience with native build tooling (Xcode, Android Studio, Fastlane or equivalent CI/CD for mobile release).

- Clear written and verbal communication, this role reports progress to founders directly, without a layer of engineering management in between.

Nice to Have

- Experience working within a portfolio company or multi-brand product environment.

- Familiarity with Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Framer Motion, as used across PTE's web properties.

- Experience with Remotion or other programmatic video tooling.

- Prior experience mentoring or setting technical direction for other mobile engineers.

- Flutter experience, you may work across React Native and Flutter codebases depending on the app.
