Celestial Pacific operates the Hellyer Operation near Waratah in North West Tasmania, currently in a restart phase across three production streams, including direct-shipping ore from the Fossey underground deposit. As part of Celestial Pacific Group, we're rebuilding a modern, safety-led operation from the ground up and we're looking for an experienced leader to own the underground production front.

About the role

Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Mining, the Underground Manager is accountable for the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of underground development and production at Fossey. You'll be a key member of the operations leadership team, shaping the way the underground operation runs as it moves from restart into steady-state production.

Key responsibilities

- Lead underground development and production to meet physicals, ore quality and cost targets
- Drive a visible, uncompromising safety culture and ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety legislation and Tasmanian supplementary requirements
- Manage production scheduling, resource allocation and short-interval control in conjunction with mining engineering and geology




- Set and uphold ground support and ventilation standards in partnership with geotechnical and technical services
- Lead, coach and develop underground supervisors and crews
- Manage budgets, contractor performance and cost control across the underground stream
- Contribute to continuous improvement as the operation scales up post-restart

About you

- Extensive underground metalliferous mining experience, including in a production or operations leadership capacity
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or statutory competencies applicable to underground metalliferous operations
- Robust track record leading safety performance and embedding compliant systems of work
- Experience in restart, development or ramp-up environments highly regarded
- Sound commercial and budget management capability
- Genuine people-leadership skills and the ability to build a crew from the ground up
