Job Description

Chomp Excavations & Demolition Pty Ltd Chomp Excavation & Demolition Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to join its growing team in Sydney. The Carpenter will support residential, commercial and industrial demolition, excavation and site preparation projects by undertaking a range of carpentry duties associated with demolition preparation, temporary structural works, formwork, repairs, timber construction and site establishment. This position plays an important role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with Australian building and safety standards.

Benefits Full-time permanent position. Competitive salary package AUD $76,515 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation (depending on skills and experience) Ongoing work across a variety of projects throughout Sydney. Supportive and skilled team environment.

Task & responsibilities

- Construct, install and dismantle temporary timber structures and site facilities. Carry out demolition preparation works, including temporary structural supports and make-safe carpentry works.
- Build and install formwork for concrete and civil construction projects. Perform timber framing, flooring, cladding and general carpentry works as required. Repair and replace damaged timber structures and building components.
- Install timber and lightweight building materials in accordance with project specifications. Read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications. Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber and other construction materials.




- Ensure all carpentry work complies with relevant building codes, regulations and workplace safety requirements. Work collaboratively with demolition, excavation and construction teams to meet project deadlines. Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and operational condition.
- Conduct site inspections and identify potential structural or safety concerns before demolition activities commence. Follow company policies, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures.

Qualification & experience

- Relevant trade qualification equivalent to an Australian Certificate III in Carpentry. At least two years of relevant post-qualification work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in residential, commercial or industrial construction environments. Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications. Sound knowledge of Australian building practices and WHS requirements.
- Experience with formwork, framing, temporary structures and general carpentry works. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid White Card. Current driver's licence preferred.
