Your role

The Supreme Court of New South Wales is the highest court in New South Wales and hears civil, criminal, and appellate matters. The Supreme Court is responsible for the administration of justice in New South Wales.

What you’ll do

The role of Registrar, Court of Criminal Appeal, exercises delegated powers of the Supreme Court and presides in Court to case manage appeals and applications.

- Conduct Court of Criminal Appeal directions hearings and bail hearing call overs in line with relevant practice notes.
- Case management in accordance with the applicable rules and Practice Notes.
- Determine applications under delegated authority.
- Provide procedural guidance and information to litigants and legal practitioners.
- Deliver technical, legal and operational support to the judiciary.
- Oversee day-to-day Court of Criminal Appeal operations under the supervision of the Director and Prothonotary.
- Ensure matters are managed efficiently and in accordance with court procedures and requirements.
- Assist other Court divisions as required, including conducting specially fixed civil hearings and examinations.

What we’re looking for

- Legal and Procedural Knowledge – Strong understanding of court processes, practice notes, and appeal procedures to manage matters accurately and efficiently.
- Organisation and Case Management – Ability to coordinate hearings, manage filing deadlines, prepare court materials, and ensure matters progress smoothly.




- Decision-Making and Judgement – Capacity to assess and determine applications while applying relevant rules and procedures consistently.
- Communication and Stakeholder Support – Clear and professional communication skills to provide guidance, information, and support to judicial officers, legal practitioners, and litigants.
