The CHPP Supervisor will work closely with the Middlemount Coal team to coordinate shift activities to achieve production, safety and quality outcomes. This role is critical in maintaining operational efficiency, supporting teams on shift, and ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Shift Coordination
- Coordinate shift activities to achieve production and safety targets, allocating resources and adjusting plans as required.
- Ensure effective handovers and consistent operational standards.
Communication
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with crews, maintenance and leadership.
- Deliver timely, accurate information during prestarts, handovers and toolbox talks, escalating issues as required.
Data Management & Reporting
- Record production, safety and operational data accurately.
- Complete shift reports and use data trends to support decision-making and improvement.
Information Technology
- Utilise CHPP systems, plant monitoring software and digital tools effectively.
- Use standard applications (e.g. MS Office) for reporting and communication.
Safety & Attention to Detail
- Maintain solid safety, compliance and risk management practices.
- Identify hazards, plant issues and deviations promptly and ensure accurate documentation.
- Work collaboratively with operators, maintenance and support teams.
- Promote teamwork, shared problem‑solving and consistent work standards through positive leadership.
Integrity & Responsibility
- Handle confidential information appropriately and act with honesty and professionalism.
- Take ownership of decisions and shift outcomes, following through on commitments.
Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical, or demonstrated experience in Coal or Mineral Processing operations.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fixed plant operations and/or maintenance.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience operating mobile plant equipment, such as Front End Loaders and/or Dozers.

About Middlemount Coal
Middlemount Coal Mine is located approximately 90 kilometres north-east of Emerald and some 7 kilometres west of the township of Middlemount in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
Middlemount Coal Mine is an open-cut coal mine which uses conventional truck and shovel methods. Middlemount commenced its full-scale operations in November 2011, producing approximately 4Mtpa of coking and PCI coal for export. Middlemount coal mine has a life expectancy estimated to be more than 20 years.
